It builds your problem solving abilities, so you can be ready for the world ahead of you.
Math helps with other subjects as well. When you know how to those difficult problems you have a better understanding of the chemistry problems or even physic problems that you will do later in life. All of these things just prepare you for your college years and who knows you may even learn to love math so much that you get a math degree of some sort.
